The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell to 138.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending December 3, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 4.2¢ to 138.9¢ a litre, with the regional price down 0.3¢ to 137.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 153.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (143.1¢), South Australia (141.5¢), Victoria (140.9¢), Queensland (139.8¢), Western Australia (138¢) and NSW/ACT (134.6¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 132.7¢ a litre, followed by Perth (137.4¢), Brisbane (140.1¢), Melbourne (142.1¢), Hobart (142.8¢), Adelaide (143.1¢) Canberra (144.7¢) and Darwin (146.4¢).
