The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 2.3¢ to 98.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 3, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped by 1.3¢ to 94.9¢ a litre, with the regional price dropping by 4.5¢ to 105.1¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Northern Territory at 130.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (123.0¢), South Australia (104.6¢), Western Australia (101.7¢), NSW/ACT (97.4¢) Queensland (96.1¢), and Victoria (94.3¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 91.5¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (92.0¢), Brisbane (93.1¢), Perth (96.7¢), Adelaide (103.8¢), Canberra (110.0¢), Darwin (117.0¢), and Hobart (124.3¢).
