The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 0.7¢ to 134.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 31 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price stayed at 138.8¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 2.0¢ to 126.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Victoria at 141.8¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (138.0¢), NSW/ACT (134.1¢), NT (132.0¢), Tasmania (126.6¢), Western Australia (125.5¢), and South Australia (121.5¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 119.4¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (120.6¢), Perth (125.4¢), Canberra (125.9¢), Hobart (126.1¢), Sydney (142.0¢), Brisbane (144.0¢) and Melbourne (146.7¢).
