The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 4.9¢ to 177.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 28 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 6.5¢ to 179.5¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 1.5¢ to 172.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 196.9¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (180.2¢), Queensland (180¢), NSW/ACT (179.2¢), Tasmania (178¢), Western Australia (170.6¢), and South Australia (160.3¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 156.2¢ a litre, followed by Perth (168.3¢), Hobart (177.8¢), Canberra (181.6¢), Sydney (183.5¢), Melbourne (183.7¢), Darwin (184.4¢), and Brisbane (185.5¢).
