The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 2.2¢ to 146.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending February 23, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped by 4.0¢ to 146.7¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 1.4¢ to 144.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Tasmania at 153.5¢ a litre, followed by Northern Territory (149.3¢), NSW/ACT (147.6¢), Queensland (147.3¢), Victoria (147.2¢), South Australia (143.5¢), and Western Australia (137.3¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 134.6¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (136.7¢), Adelaide (143.2¢), Canberra (144.9¢), Melbourne (149.0¢), Brisbane (149.3¢), Sydney (149.5¢) and Hobart (154.6¢).
