The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 6.3¢ to 154.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 19, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 9.2¢ to 158.3¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 0.8¢ to 146.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Queensland at 159.4¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (157.7¢), Tasmania (155.7¢), NSW/ACT (154.4¢), Northern Territory (152.9¢), Western Australia (145.4¢), and South Australia (143.7¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide and Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 141.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (144.3¢), Canberra (147.2¢), Hobart (155.8¢), Sydney (161.6¢), Melbourne (163.1¢), and Brisbane (166.0¢).
