The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia increased to 142.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending February 25, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 9¢ to 143¢ a litre, with the regional price up 2¢ to 140.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 156.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (146.9¢), Queensland (144.9¢), Victoria (144.8¢), NSW/ACT (141.4¢), Western Australia (138.3¢), and South Australia (132¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 130.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (137.1¢), Sydney (141.4¢), Hobart (146.2¢), Melbourne (146.7¢), Brisbane and Canberra (148.1¢), and Darwin (149.6¢).
