The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 9.6¢ to 153.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 27, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price jumped 11.9¢ to 153.9¢ a litre, with the regional price up 5¢ to 152.5¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the NT at 158.8¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (157¢), Victoria (155.6¢), Tasmania (155.4¢), NSW/ACT (153.2¢), WA (150.2¢) and SA (141.9¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 139.3¢ a litre, followed by Perth (149.1¢), Canberra (149.3¢), Darwin (151¢), Sydney and Hobart (154.7¢), Melbourne (157.2¢) and Brisbane (158.6¢).
