Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.4¢ to 181.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 18 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.5¢ to 180.2¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 2.3¢ to 184.5¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 196.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (185.3¢), South Australia (185.1¢), Western Australia (182.4¢), Victoria (181.2¢), NSW/ACT (180.9¢), and Queensland (180.5¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 176.2¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (179¢), Darwin (179.4¢), Melbourne (181.1¢), Perth (181.3¢), Hobart (183.3¢), Adelaide (185.7¢), and Canberra (192.1¢).
