The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 5.8¢ to 139.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending December 9, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 9.8¢ to 138.9¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 2.3¢ to 141.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the NT at 158.9¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (155.2¢), Queensland (145.3¢), Victoria (140.1¢), NSW/ACT (139.4¢), WA (136¢) and SA (126.3¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 122.9¢ a litre, followed by Perth (131.9¢), Sydney (136.6¢), Melbourne (140.7¢), Brisbane (147¢), Darwin (148.3¢), Canberra (155.3¢) and Hobart (157.2¢).
