The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.6¢ to 145.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending August 26, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 6.2¢ to 143.7¢ a litre, with the regional price also falling 1.4¢ to 148.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the NT at 162.9¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (158¢), Queensland (148.2¢), WA (145.2¢), Victoria (144.1¢), NSW/ACT (143.5¢) and SA (142.5¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 138.8¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (141.8¢), Perth (142.8¢), Melbourne (144.1¢), Brisbane (148.1¢), Canberra (152.7¢), Darwin (155¢) and Hobart (158.4¢).
