The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 4.4¢ to 146.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending August 12, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 5.9¢ to 145.6¢ a litre, with the regional price also up 1.1¢ to 148.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the NT at 162.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (158.1¢), NSW/ACT (151¢), WA (146.4¢), Queensland (146.3¢), Victoria (142.8¢) and SA (135.6¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 132.5¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (142.6¢), Perth (144.3¢), Brisbane (144.8¢), Sydney (152.6¢), Canberra (152.8¢), Darwin (155.8¢) and Hobart (158.5¢).
