Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.3¢ to 145.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending July 8, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.6¢ to 143.3¢ a litre, with the regional price down 1.8¢ to 149.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the NT at 163.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (158.2¢), WA (148.5¢), Queensland (147.7¢), SA (145.8¢), Victoria (144.8¢) and NSW/ACT (142.1¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 136.7¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (144¢), Adelaide (144.4¢), Brisbane (145.2¢), Perth (146.6¢), Canberra (155¢), Darwin (156.7¢) and Hobart (158.3¢).
