The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 3.0¢ to 141.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 May, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 3.4¢ to 142.1¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 2.1¢ to 139.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Queensland at 152.8¢ a litre, followed by NT (149.7¢), Tasmania (143.0¢), South Australia (140.8¢), Western Australia (139.3¢), NSW/ACT (138.2¢), and Victoria (136.3¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 135.3¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (137.4¢), Perth (138.9¢), Darwin (139.8¢), Canberra (140.1¢), Adelaide (141.8¢), Hobart (143.9¢) and Brisbane (160.0¢).
