The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 8.5¢ to 164.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 11 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 11.1¢ to 161.3¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3.2¢ to 170.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 194.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (177.6¢), Western Australia (170.1¢), NSW/ACT (165.7¢), Queensland (163.4¢), Victoria (162¢), and South Australia (155.2¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 150¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (159.7¢), Melbourne (160.6¢), Brisbane (161.1¢), Perth (167.7¢), Hobart (175.8¢), Canberra (180.5¢), and Darwin (181.7¢).
