The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 8.1¢ to 186¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 11 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 11¢ to 185.7¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.6¢ to 188.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 197.3¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (189¢), Queensland (188.1¢), Tasmania (186.8¢), NSW/ACT (185.3¢), Western Australia (183.7¢), and South Australia (176.2¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 173.5¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (180.8¢), Sydney (181.8¢), Perth (182.8¢), Hobart (184.6¢), Brisbane (189.5¢), Melbourne (191.2¢), and Canberra (194.2¢).
