Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell to 138.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 8, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1¢ to 139¢ a litre, with the regional price up 0.4¢ to 138.7¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 155.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (147.9¢), Queensland (141.5¢), Victoria (140.3¢), WA (139¢), NSW/ACT (136¢), and South Australia (134.9¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 134¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (134.3¢), Perth (137.8¢), Melbourne (141.1¢), Brisbane (142.8¢), Hobart (147.3¢), Canberra (148¢) and Darwin (148.3¢).
