Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 2.7¢ to 175.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 1 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 3.3¢ to 175.4¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.6¢ to 176.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 186.6¢ a litre, followed by NSW/ACT (184.9¢), Tasmania (176.2¢), Queensland (173.5¢), Western Australia (172.4¢), Victoria (169.5¢), and South Australia (167¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 164.4¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (168.7¢), Melbourne (168.8¢), Perth (171.4¢), Brisbane (172.9¢), Hobart (175.8¢), Canberra (181.8¢), and Sydney (189.5¢).
