The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 9.3¢ to 136.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 1, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped by 12.7¢ to 134.0¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 2.3¢ to 142.6¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Tasmania at 153.5¢ a litre, followed by Northern Territory (149.1¢), South Australia (143.4¢), NSW/ACT (137.6¢), Western Australia (136.8¢), Victoria (134.0¢), and Queensland (133.9¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 130.0¢ a litre, followed by Sydney and Melbourne (132.7¢), Perth (134.1¢), Darwin (136.4¢), Adelaide (143.4¢), Canberra (144.4¢) and Hobart (154.7¢).
