Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 2.2¢ to 142.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 2.6¢ to 141.2¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 2.0¢ to 142.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 157.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (147.0¢), NSW/ACT (142.4¢), Queensland (142.3¢), South Australia (141.2¢), Victoria (141.1¢), and Western Australia (140.6¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 137.3¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (138.9¢), Melbourne (140.5¢), Sydney (141.0¢), Brisbane (143.5¢), Darwin (144.0¢), Canberra (145.3¢) and Hobart (146.8¢).
