The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.3¢ to 145.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 1 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.3¢ to 143.8¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 0.3¢ to 146.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 159.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (150.4¢), Queensland (145.5¢), South Australia (145.2¢), NSW/ACT (145.2¢), Victoria (144.0¢), and Western Australia (143.2¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 140.4¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (141.9¢), Sydney (143.2¢), Melbourne (143.4¢), Brisbane (146.0¢), Darwin (146.8¢), Canberra (147.8¢) and Hobart (149.4¢).
