The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose by 1.1¢ to 123.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 31 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.2¢ to 122.7¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 1.0¢ to 124.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 137.0¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (132.2¢), Victoria (124.6¢), NSW/ACT (123.4¢), Western Australia (123.1¢), South Australia (123.0¢) and Queensland (121.8¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 119.9¢ a litre, followed by Perth (120.7¢), Adelaide (121.0¢), Sydney (122.0¢), Brisbane (122.3¢), Melbourne (124.3¢), Canberra (126.8¢) and Hobart (132.4¢).
