The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.1¢ to 120.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 26 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 0.1¢ to 118.5¢ a litre, while the regional price stayed at 121.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 134.2¢, then Tasmania at 133.4¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (120.9¢), South Australia (120.1¢), NSW/ACT (120.0¢), Victoria (119.1¢) and Queensland (118.7¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 114.7¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (115.9¢), Sydney (117.3¢), Melbourne (118.1¢), Brisbane (118.4¢), Perth (118.6¢), Canberra (122.1¢) and Hobart (135.2¢).
