Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.6¢ to 144.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 25 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.4¢ to 143.5¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 0.7¢ to 145.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 159.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (150.2¢), Queensland (145.1¢), NSW/ACT (144.9¢), South Australia (144.8¢), Victoria (143.6¢), and Western Australia (143.1¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 140.2¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (140.7¢), Sydney (142.9¢), Melbourne (143.0¢), Brisbane (145.6¢), Darwin (146.8¢), Canberra (147.4¢) and Hobart (149.1¢).
