The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 3.3¢ to 137.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 29, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 3.2¢ to 135.9¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 3.2¢ to 138.5¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 153.7¢, then Tasmania at 150.1¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (138.2¢), Queensland (136.9), Victoria (136.8¢), NSW/ACT (135.9¢) and South Australia (134.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 126.8¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (131.0¢), Brisbane (136.1¢), Melbourne (136.7¢), Darwin (136.8¢), Perth (136.9¢), Canberra (141.7¢) and Hobart (151.9¢).
