Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.7¢ 178.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 29 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.9¢ to 176.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.5¢ to 180.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 202.7¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (181.2¢), Queensland (180¢), Tasmania (178.7¢), NSW/ACT (177.8¢), South Australia (174.1¢), and Western Australia (173¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 168.3¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (169¢), Sydney (173.4¢), Darwin (176.3¢), Hobart (177.4¢), Brisbane (179.7¢), Melbourne (180.4¢), and Canberra (187.1¢).
