Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose by 0.6¢ to 121.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 24 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 0.6¢ to 120.3¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 0.5¢ to 122.2¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 136.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (131.7¢), Victoria (123.2¢), NSW/ACT (122.5¢), Western Australia (122.0¢), South Australia (122.0¢) and Queensland (120.6¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 119.1¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (119.5¢), Perth (119.6¢), Sydney (121.0¢), Brisbane (121.1¢), Melbourne (122.6¢), Canberra (126.2¢) and Hobart (132.2¢).
