The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.5¢ to148.0 a litre nationally in the week ending February 23, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.4¢ to 146.9¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.6¢ 148.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 158.1¢, then Tasmania at 158.1¢ a litre, followed by Queensland and Western Australia (148.0¢), South NSW/ACT (147.7¢) and South Australia (147.2¢) and Victoria (146.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 140.9¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (142.3¢), Sydney (144.6¢), Perth (146.0¢), Melbourne (146.2¢), Brisbane (148.6¢), and Hobart (160.8¢).
