The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.1¢ to 146.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 22 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.2¢ to 145.1¢ a litre, with the regional price rose 0.1¢ to 147.5¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 163.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (151.9¢), Queensland (146.6¢), NSW/ACT (146.6¢), South Australia (146.0¢), Victoria (145.5¢), and Western Australia (144.3¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 141.6¢ a litre, followed by Perth (141.7¢), Sydney (144.2¢), Melbourne (145.2¢), Brisbane (146.6¢), Canberra (149.7¢), Hobart (151.3¢) and Darwin (151.6¢).
