The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.2¢ 189.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 25 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.2¢ to 187.4¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.1¢ to 190.5¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 209.8¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (190.1¢), Victoria (190.9¢), NSW/ACT (189.2¢), Tasmania (189.6¢), South Australia (186.1¢), and Western Australia (184.4¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 180.9¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (183.3¢), Darwin (185.2¢), Sydney (186.8¢), Melbourne (188.5¢), Hobart (189.1¢), Brisbane (190.2¢), and Canberra (199.8¢).
