The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.6¢ to 119.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 17, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.7¢ to 118.2¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.5¢ to 120.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 139.6¢, then Tasmania at 134.4¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (120.6¢), Victoria (118.9), Queensland (118.6¢), NSW/ACT (118.5¢) and South Australia (115.8¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 109.5¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (115.0¢), Brisbane (118.2¢), Melbourne (118.5¢), Perth (118.6¢), Canberra (120.8¢), Darwin (122.1¢) and Hobart (136.3¢).
