Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 19.2¢ to 221.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 20 March, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 19.4¢ to 221.1¢ a litre, while the regional rose 19.2¢ to 222.1¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in Tasmania at 228.5¢ a litre, followed by Northern Territory (224.4¢), Queensland (222.1¢), Victoria (222¢), South Australia (221.2¢), NSW/ACT (221¢), and Western Australia (219.9¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 218.1¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (219.2¢), Adelaide (219.5¢), Melbourne (220.9¢), Brisbane (223.3¢), Darwin (223.4¢), Canberra (226.6¢), and Hobart (230.8¢).
