Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 0.9¢ 179.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 20 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1¢ to 177.5¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.9¢ to 180.8¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 201.3¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (181¢), Tasmania (180.5¢), Queensland (180.3¢), NSW/ACT (178.7¢), South Australia (176.2¢), and Western Australia (174.9¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 171.1¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (173.8¢), Darwin (174.9¢), Sydney (175.5¢), Melbourne (180.1¢), Brisbane (180.1¢), Hobart (180.9¢), and Canberra (187.7¢).
