The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 5.0¢ to 115.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 27 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 6.8¢ to 113.9¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 1.2¢ to 117.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 129.9¢, then Tasmania at 123.2¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (118.5¢), Western Australia (117.4¢), Queensland (114.3¢), NSW/ACT (113.4¢) and South Australia (108.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 104.7¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (108.3¢), Brisbane (113.0¢), Perth (116.7¢), Darwin (117.6¢), Melbourne (120.1¢), Canberra (121.4¢) and Hobart (123.5¢).
