The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.5¢ to 135.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 23 May, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.4¢ to 134.0 ¢ a litre, with the regional price rising by 0.5¢ to 136.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 149.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (141.6¢), South Australia (136.1¢), NSW/ACT (135.6¢), Western Australia (134.8¢), Queensland (134.8¢), and Victoria (134.6¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 132.2¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (133.0¢), Sydney (133.3¢), Darwin (133.4¢), Melbourne (133.8¢), Brisbane (134.8¢), Canberra (139.4¢) and Hobart (142.5¢).
