Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 2.4¢ 189.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 19 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.5¢ to 188.1¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 2.4¢ to 190.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 209.8.6¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (192.2¢), Tasmania (191.8¢), NSW/ACT (189.8¢), Queensland (187.5¢), South Australia (186.8¢), and Western Australia (185.9¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 183.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (183.6¢), Sydney (187.6¢), Brisbane (187.7¢), Darwin (188.6¢), Melbourne (191.1¢), Hobart (193.2¢), and Canberra (197.2¢).
