The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 2.5¢ to 152.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 27, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.1¢ to 153.2¢ a litre, with the regional price up 2.8¢ to 152.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the NT at 161.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (156.7¢), WA (155¢), Queensland (152.5¢), Victoria (152.4¢), NSW/ACT (151.2¢) and SA (150.9¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 149.9¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (150.5¢), Adelaide (151.6¢), Melbourne (153.7¢), Brisbane (154¢), Canberra (154.6¢), Perth (154.7¢) and Hobart (156.2¢).
