Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 2.3¢ to 218.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 17 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.5¢ to 217.6¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 2.2¢ to 218.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 231.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (222.7¢), Victoria (218.7¢), Queensland (218.1¢), NSW/ACT (218.1¢), Western Australia (217.9¢), and South Australia (214.3¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 214.6¢ a litre, followed by Perth (215.6¢), Sydney (217.1¢), Darwin (217.7¢), Melbourne (218¢), Brisbane (218.3¢), Hobart (221.8¢), and Canberra (222.2¢).
