The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 3.5¢ to 231.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 17 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 3.7¢ to 230.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3.4¢ to 233¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 244.8¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (233.3¢), Tasmania (232.6¢), NSW/ACT (232.2¢), Victoria (232.1¢), South Australia (228.8¢), and Western Australia (228.1¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 225.4¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (236.3¢), Sydney (228.6¢), Melbourne (231.8¢), Hobart (232.3¢), Brisbane (233.1¢), Canberra (233.8¢), and Darwin (236.7¢).
