Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 4.5¢ to 175.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 13 February, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 4.7¢ to 175.2¢ a litre, while the regional rose 4.3¢ to 175.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 188.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (182.4¢), Queensland (175.6¢), South Australia (175.1¢), Western Australia (174.8¢), NSW/ACT (175¢), and Victoria (175¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 173.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (173.5¢), Adelaide (174.3¢), Melbourne (174.7¢), Brisbane (176.6¢), Canberra (178.2¢), Darwin (181.4¢), and Hobart (183.1¢).
