Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.4¢ to 147.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 12 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.4¢ to 148.8¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.3¢ to 147.8¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 164.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (152.5¢), Queensland (148.2¢), NSW/ACT (148.1¢), Victoria (147.4¢), South Australia (146¢), and Western Australia (145¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 142.2¢ a litre, followed by Perth (142.7¢), Sydney (145.7¢), Melbourne (147.3¢), Brisbane (148¢), Canberra (153.1¢), Hobart (151.6¢), Darwin (153.5¢).
