The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 1.8¢ 186.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 12 January, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.7¢ to 185.6¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 1.9¢ to 187.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 206.8.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (189.8¢), Victoria (189.7¢), NSW/ACT (187.5¢), Queensland (185.1¢), South Australia (183.6¢), and Western Australia (183.5¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 180.9¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (181.1¢), Darwin (184.3¢), Sydney (185.1¢), Brisbane (185.3¢), Melbourne (188.6¢), Hobart (190.9¢), and Canberra (196.1¢).
