Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.4¢ to 146.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 5 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.4¢ to 145.5¢ a litre, with the regional price rose 0.3¢ to 147.8¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 164.0¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (152.4¢), Queensland (147.8¢), NSW/ACT (147.7¢), Victoria (147.1¢), South Australia (146.0¢), and Western Australia (144.7¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 141.6¢ a litre, followed by Perth (142.2¢), Sydney (145.2¢), Melbourne (147.0¢), Brisbane (147.5¢), Hobart (151.7¢), Canberra (151.9¢) and Darwin (152.4¢).
