Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.7¢ 187.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 1 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.6¢ to 185.8¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.7¢ to 188.8¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 208.3¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (187.1¢), NSW/ACT (188.9¢), Queensland (188.6¢), Tasmania (187.5¢), South Australia (184.2¢), and Western Australia (182.3¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 179¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (181.2¢), Darwin (183.4¢), Sydney (185.8¢), Melbourne (186.5¢), Hobart (187.6¢), Brisbane (189¢), and Canberra (199.1¢).
