The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.4¢ to149.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending February 2, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.4¢ to 148.4¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.4¢ 151.0¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 160.5¢, then the Northern Territory at 159.5¢ a litre, followed by South Australia (150.2¢), NSW/ACT (149.8¢), Western Australia (149.7¢), Queensland (149.5¢) and Victoria (147.9¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 143.3¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (144.8¢), Sydney (146.9¢), Perth (147.5¢), Melbourne (147.6¢), Brisbane (149.8¢), and Hobart (161.6¢).
