The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.5¢ to 147.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending March 1, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.6¢ to 146.3¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.5¢ 148.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 158.7¢, then Tasmania at 158.0¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (147.6¢), Queensland (147.4¢), NSW/ACT (147.2¢), South Australia (146.7¢) and Victoria (145.7¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 140.0¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (142.3¢), Sydney (143.8¢), Perth (145.6¢), Melbourne (145.8¢), Brisbane (147.9¢), and Hobart (160.5¢).
