World Chocolate Day takes place this Sunday, July 7, and chocolatiers are stepping up ahead of the day with new creations to indulge sweet-toothed Aussies.
Koko Black partners with cult-favourite Tarts Anon
Renowned Australian artisanal chocolatier Koko Black and Melbourne’s cult favourite pastry shop Tarts Anon have partnered to launch the ‘Chocolate Leatherwood Honey Tart’, a limited-edition, seven-layered tart inspired by Koko Black’s iconic Tasmanian Leatherwood Honeycomb chocolate.
Beginning with a chocolate-infused twist on Tart’s Anons’ signature shortcut pastry, it is then delicately layered with leatherwood honey caramel. Each bite reveals a luscious combination of moist peperkoek sponge and rich dark chocolate custard, topped with silky honey and milk chocolate cremeux. As a final indulgence, a hidden chocolate surprise awaits beneath a mirror-like chocolate glaze adorned with gold cocoa nibs.
Available for three days only across selected Koko Black and Tarts Anon stores in Melbourne, for $14 a slice.
Max Brenner puts a twist on classic Aussie dessert
Aussie chocolate and dessert brand Max Brenner is reinventing one of Australia’s favourite desserts – the vanilla slice – with a “delectable” chocolate twist.
The dessert features rich, flaky chocolate puff pastry, as well as a delicious blend of chocolate custard, along with the traditional vanilla custard, served alongside ice-cream and drizzled in chocolate.
“Max Brenner is a brand that believes chocolate can be seriously fun, which is why we wanted to put a twist on an Australian classic,” says Max Brenner General Manager, Irene Vitocco.
Max’s Chocolate Vanilla Slice is now available across all 24 Max Brenner stores for $14.99, and via Uber and DoorDash.
