SPAR India says it has expanded its retail selling space by half again within just 24 months.
Earlier this year, its store concept won the gold prize at the Asian Customer Engagement Forum.
The company describes its new SPAR hypermarket at Sharath Capital City Mall, Hyderabad, as a “perfect example of the customer-centric store concept that integrates technology, design and tradition in a seamless way”.
SPAR India’s Managing Director Rajeev Krishnan said: “We now have five stores in this beautiful city. We opened our 16th store in Hyderabad in 2016. We’re committed to growing by 50 per cent in the coming 18-24 months, which we have achieved. Here in Hyderabad, we’re delighted to showcase our promise of fresh, value, choice and service through retail innovation.”
In-store and online
SPAR says its hypermarkets in India offer a wide assortment of goods. These include fresh produce, fresh fish and meat, groceries, home and living products, clothes and electronic equipment.
Shoppers can also buy online through a dedicated web platform or the SPAR India mobile app.
“SPAR hypermarkets feature cutting-edge self-assist screens for easy shopping in-store,” the company said. “While special kids’ interactive screens make shopping fun – examples of just two solutions integrated through innovation.”
Big in Bangalore
Meanwhile, the city of Bangalore recently welcomed another addition to the SPAR retail estate. Situated at RMZ Galleria, Yelahanka, this SPAR hypermarket is the seventh in the city. The store has 30 checkouts, of which several are self-checkouts. It also stocks more than 20,000 products and has what SPAR describes as “a strong fresh offer”.
All in all, SPAR India now has a retail footprint in the cities of Coimbatore, Mangalore, Bangalore, Shimoga, Chennai and Delhi NCR. There are already 24 stores across India. But there are already more in the pipeline to continue the rapid pace of expansion across the country.
