Metcash has appointed Scott Marshall as CEO of Supermarkets & Convenience following the resignation of Steven Cain.
As reported last week, Mr Cain is moving to Coles where he will succeed John Durkan as Managing Director.
Metcash Group CEO Jeff Adams says Mr Cain commuted from Melbourne to Sydney for three years before accepting the Melbourne-based Coles position.
“We understand Steven’s decision to be based in Melbourne and thank him for his contribution in this role as CEO of Supermarkets & Convenience,” Mr Adams said, adding that Mr Marshall is well placed to take over in the role.
For the past four years, Mr Marshall has been CEO of Liquor with Metcash, and has more than 25 years’ experience in wholesale and retail with the company, including the supermarkets business where he formerly led the West Australian operations.
Metcash says these previous roles and his history within the company have helped him build a strong network throughout the liquor and supermarket industry.
Metcash General Manager Merchandise for Liquor Rod Pritchard has been appointed interim CEO of Liquor. Mr Pritchard has extensive experience in the liquor industry, including three years at Metcash working closely with Mr Marshall on the growth initiatives in the company’s liquor business, and more than 15 years with liquor group Brown-Forman in various senior roles.
