After 35 years in the service station industry, Richard Fox (along with his family) used the slower, quieter time of March 2020 to reinvent their offering at BP Tugun on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Mr Fox’s daughter, Store Manager Hollie Fox, says her family “decided to put into action a lifelong dream which had been brewing from years of overseas study tours and an internal passion from each [member] of the family”.
The result was The Fox’s Pantry, promoted as a one-stop shop making convenience healthy. It strives to provide 24/7 access to the freshest and healthiest goods on the southern Gold Coast.
“Our family has always had a passion for healthy living and nutritious foods,” Ms Fox says. “My younger sister acted as a catalyst for this, due to her health issues requiring a large amount of research into ways in which foods interact with the body.
“Researching and investigating food and beverages has since become second nature to all of us as each product in our store has to meet a certain criterion to ensure this same message is being received by all customers.”
The Fox’s Pantry represents a lot more than just healthy living, though, notes Ms Fox, who says the store has become a “community hub for all like-minded people, where they come to share experiences and create friendships”.
“We wanted The Fox’s Pantry to be somewhere for our customers to look forward to visiting throughout their day and to have an experience like no other in each visit,” she says.
“We’re lucky enough to have such a health-orientated community surrounding us, which makes our jobs a lot easier because, with the assistance of customer feedback, this has led to our store being dedicated to health foods and other alternative products. This has also led to meeting the most incredible people and forming lifelong friendships.”
